“Yesterday’s meeting was enjoyable and entertaining.

Caleb Vercoe, the meeting’s Toastmaster, had “Broken Records” as the theme for the day. Throughout his well- organised meeting he covered broken records from Michael Jackson to Star Trek and impressed with his research and humour. Grammarian, Mark Glanville’s Word of the Day was “impetuous” and was well used throughout the meeting.

There were three presentations:

  1. Steve Thomas presented an explanatory team meeting to explore cost reduction in boat gearbox production, followed by a question and answer session. It was well run and enlightening.
  2. Rachel Walton shared a touching story around the life of her Uncle Francis. He was Educationally Sub Normal (ENS) and she explored his part in her life. Her conclusion struck a chord in us, i.e. if she had made more time to spend with him her life would have further enhanced.
  3. Alan Calder (pictured) look us his adventurous mountain biking trip to Whister, in Canada. Delivered with his characteristic humour his descriptions of both the biking and scenery made it seem a great destination.

Alannah Vickery’s theme for the Table Topics impromptu session was ‘St Valentine’s Day’ – and Rodney Ford, Steve Mydlowski, David Clarkson, Roydon Gibbs and Muhammad Yakubu (Mo, a new member) all had revealing and entertaining commentaries on it.”
