Toastmaster Steven Mydlowski enticed us into The Great Outdoors – with his motivating Trekking quotes and wildlife facts.  Two of my favourites were – “Each step is different, only in mind is it the same” and  “Walking is man’s medicine”.

Bryce Robb’s Ice-Breaker gave us an entertaining insight into where his successful business foundation began with 3 boyhood tales each with a key message.  From hunting for golf balls to sell, teaching him about quality and leverage; Mowing lawns and the difference of owning or borrowing the equipment and having to pay interest when borrowing money – even off family;  The last lesson of recycling was learnt from straightening nails and flattening corrugated iron.

Barbara Miller’s- “In Our Own Backyard”, gave us the perfect taste of the Bank’s Peninsular Track, skillfully leaving us wanting to check it out for ourselves.  Star gazing from the glass roofed huts, toilets with a view, open air bath, small grocery pit-stops with beer, wine, eggs, chocolate and ice-creams, singing birdlife, rugged volcanic scenery and luxury tramping accommodation.  Not a purist tramp but the experience will be something very special.

“Health Fanatic” and “Pity the Plight of the Young Fellows” written by punk poet John Cooper Clark was brought to life by Helen McLeod.  Creating vivid images from the heroin addicted poet’s cynical take on high octane fresh air feinds and the younger generation – loved it!  I will be hunting out some more for sure.

Danny de Hek’s continuous story table topics produced 6 misfits from Floggil Toggle Enterprises.  Each creatively justifying their Fijian Conference of mishaps, car crashes, lost passports, credit card declines, food poisoning, and body cavity drug searches.

Looking forward to next Friday’s Christmas Breakfast and Table Topics meeting.  Don’t forget to confirm your attendance with Steven Mydlowski  and bring a Christmas themed Table Topic for someone.
