The theme of this morning’s meeting was ‘Embrace Creativity’ with Toastmaster Kelvin Newman encouraging us to get in touch with our creative self, supplying some entertaining examples of how to go about this. Alana Bogart introduced us to a new word – Solipsism, meaning being self-centred. Not the easiest word to say, but a number of members embraced their creativity and managed to use it in their speeches.
A lovely ice-breaker speech from Steve (from Accounts) Kennelly, proving that accountants do have a sense of humour and that their profession can even be sexy and glamorous!
John McVicar gave a very informative speech about blue, white and brown asbestos, reassuring us that although it might be in our houses, it’s not a danger unless it’s disturbed – phew! And Helen McLeod drew on her knowledge of the choices made by her ancestors and what she has learnt from them, to persuade us of the importance of making an informed vote this year.
As always it was a fun meeting with a fantastic group of people – make sure you’re part of it next week.
