Congratulations to all our contestants and place-getters for entering the 2014 Boaters Toastmasters Humourous Speech Contest.
This year’s winner – Brent Ruru with “Rangi” – cousin Rangi would certainly be proud that the celebration of his life is continued to be remembered in a colourful tale of Brent being a Funeral Director for a Day.
Runner-up Danny De Hek – “Justifying Technology” – a very funny reminder of the gadgets we have seen evolve over the years, from the expert himself, who has trialled them all – even at the risk of his home-life, resulting in a Robotic Dog being cooked in the microwave!
Dennis McGrath – 3rd place-getter – with “IT”, romantic of the year, sending E-cards, electronic roses and producing a DONG from his pocket. Dennis giving his customers ground-breaking advice to fix computer problems – turn it off and on!
Alan Calder – “Driving” – reminiscing about his driving antics taking us back to the 1600 Escort Sport days, run-ins with the law, unplanned increase in bike usage, golf days gone rogue and a wife that knows him far too well!
Amanda Cartridge – “Who ate all the Chocolate Mousse” – took us through her 5 decades with entertaining stories of pregnancy, chocolate, alcohol and divorce with a Meatloaf singing finale – PRAYING FOR THE END OF TIME, to deliver a message, finish what you started.
Big thanks to the Warm-up speaker Louise, Contestants, Judges and Geoff and his Team for a Humourous morning. Claire
