26 people attended the Boaters meeting on Friday 21 February, and were treated to another fabulous Toastmasters morning!

A big welcome to new guest Nathan and a welcome back to Nicola and Steve.

Greg McGeorge opened the meeting for us as our Sergeant at Arms and let us know about the historic role of a Sergeant at Arms i.e. to protect royalty.

Reece Hellings was our Toastmaster for the day, and the theme was ‘Winter Olympics’. Reece kept us well informed with interesting facts and figures about the Olympics, throughout the meeting.

Vivien, our Grammarian for the day, encouraged us to focus carefully on our pronunciation and to try and incorporate the term ‘Nailed It’ into our speaking for the morning.

Speaker 1, David Clarkson, delivered a promo for the upcoming Toastmasters National Convention, “The Sky’s the Limit”. This is being held in Christchurch 9-11 May. Registration can be made via the website www.toastmasters.org.nz/conventions and costs $90 if paid before March 2014, $110 if paid between 1 March and 1 April, and $140 if paid after April.
