Zephyrlargus meeting 859, a typical Terrelle made up word, coming from the word Zephyr – a light wind and Largus – abundance

You know when Terrelle is charge the meeting is going to be quirky and full of laughter and this meeting did not disappoint.

Jennifer our grammarian started the meeting of with a poem about wind

Speaker one – Gary Musson – Just a little faster

Who in this room has not received a speeding infringement? We sat looking sheepishly guilty.

Gary talked about his regular trip to his holiday home in the sounds. He discussed the changes in the speed limit due to the earthquake however the point of his speech was with modern cars that are built to go faster could we not have the speed limit increased a little on the open roads

Terelle encouraged us to use a new word in each new speech we do.

Speaker 2 – David Clarkson  - His Story

After a week off being on edge with living by the Port Hills fires, David told us his story, David lives up the hill where the cordons went up. David reflected on a time when he was flying in an 1980 aircraft around Mt Cook. During the flight the person next to him was scared with fear, this moment in time kept with David to this day. On Wednesday David noticed the flames and smoke moving towards his home. He gathered his medals, work gear, toiletries and prepared to be evacuated,  He and his wife Margaret had flights that were due to be paid for by the Thursday so positively thinking Margaret paid the tickets that day.  Wednesday night the flames got intense David saw the same fear in Margaret that he saw in the guy in the plane and decided it was time to leave there home and wait in a safe place.

Speaker 3 -Helen McLeod – Under Fire

Helen speech was based on ‘Parents of primary school children who are truant’.  The audience participated by being the parents who had been called to a meeting about there truant children.  Helen started by explaining how she understand how children can become truant.  She was not there to judge but listen. Helen noted that the parents should explain to the school if the child has a medical condition, if we feel they have medical condition but haven’t seen the doctor it’s free under 13. Helen covered anxiety with some symptoms and dealing with it.  Helen then took questions from the parents, they were upfront difficult questions.
